President Bounnhang Vorachit visits the Monument of Unknown Soldiers to pay respect to war heroes who fought for national independence on the occasion of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Viengxay district as the historical stronghold of the Lao revolution (Viengxay, Huaphan Province, Nov 30, 2018)
(KPL) The celebration of Viengxay as the historical stronghold of the Lao revolution was held this afternoon in Viengxay district, Huaphan Province.
“The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the government and the Lao Front for National Development, and people in Viengxay district and people across the country are happy and very proud to organize together the celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of Viengxay district, the 43rd anniversary of the Lao PDR and the 98th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane, the beloved leader of the Lao people in this beautiful, traditional Viengxay district, the historical stronghold of the Lao revolution,” said President Bounnhang Vorachit.
“In this enthusiastic and historically meaningful celebration, we are wholeheartedly missing and remember the great deeds of President Kaysone Phomvihane, the mighty leader, who founded and led our Party to the victory of national liberation and to the launch of comprehensive and principle-based innovation of our nation. In addition, we are missing and gratitude to, and remember the great deeds of the Party and government leaders, officials, Party members, combatants and the Lao multi-ethnic people, as well as Vietnamese voluntary combatants, experts, and foreign friends who sacrificed their lives and blood for the national liberty and happiness of the Lao people of all ethnic groups,” said President Bounnhang.
The President urged officials, Party members, military and police officers, intellectuals, qualified people, business people and the Lao people of all ethnic groups across the country as well as Lao diasporas to enhance solidarity and sustain and uphold the tradition of patriotism and actively take part in the national development in a enthusiastic and constant manner.
Viengxay, located in the mountainous province of Huaphan, houses a number of caves and some of them were used as residential and working places by revolutionary leaders including President Kaysone Phomvihane and his predecessor Souphanouvong.
Between 1964 and 1970, Viengxay was heavily bombarded and a number of patriots sacrificed their lives for the national revolutionary cause.
