A white supremacist demonstration outside the White House on Sunday left organizers disappointed when the mere handful of neo-Nazis who showed up were outnumbered by hundreds of counter-protesters, AFP reported.

To prevent a repeat of the deadly violence at a protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, exactly one year ago, Washington police closed streets and set up a ring of steel across a public park to ensure the neo-Nazis and counter-protesters were unable to clash.

About 20 white nationalists traveled from the nearby community of Vienna, Virginia, under heavy police escort. They were met at the local metro station by a larger group of more than 300 counter-protesters  shouting “Shame!” and “Get out of my city!”.

After marching to the White House, the neo-Nazis were driven in police vans to a different train station.
