Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has urged education administrators to reduce education gap between urban and rural areas.
Addressing an annual nationwide meeting of education and sport administrators in Vientiane on Dec 28, 2017, Prime Minister Thongloun noted that the reduction of education gap between urban and rural area is urgently needed and must be conducted in parallel with the addressing of teacher shortage in rural and remote areas.
He also said that attention must be also paid to the development of education administrators and teachers making sure they have broader knowledge of the policy of the Party and the laws of the government; and the improvement of the quality of education.
“Target of teacher development must be achieved in an active manner,” said Prime Minister Thongloun.
He urged the education administrators to have a certain plan on the development of professional staff and establish precise rules to ensure their management.
He also asked them to work closely with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare to develop a national labour market database to ensure the skills development of Lao workers and national integration into international labour market.
