The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Laos held a reception to mark the 90th founding anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (Aug 1, 1927-2017) in Vientiane Capital on Jul 26.
Minister of National Defense, Lt. Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath, Chinese Ambassador to Laos Wang Wentian, Defense Attaché to the Chinese Embassy in Vientiane Zhen Yongjing and other foreign defense diplomats in Vientiane attended the event.
“The 90th founding anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) which will fall on August 1 marks the important fundamental reform and strategic transformation of China’s military forces,” said Zhen Yongjing.
On August 1 1927, the Communist Party of China (CPC) organized a military uprising in Nanchang, East China’s Jiangxi Province, seen as the starting point of the CPC leading military struggles against the Kuomintang administration. The day was later recognized as the birth of the PLA, led by the CPC.
Addressing the event, Zhen Yongjing highlighted the growing relations and cooperation between Laos and China. “Over the past one year, the relations of comprehensive partnership between China and Laos have been developed extensively and deeply creating favourable conditions for the fundamental interest of people of the two countries and the peace, stability and development of the region,” said Mr Yongjing.
